Issued by the General Secretariat of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, “The most beautiful poems”, and “The most beautiful pictures in love of date palm trees” books
Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation General Secretariat, issued two new books, the first entitled “The 50 most beautiful poems in love of date palm trees”, out of 1,558 participating poems, and the second book entitled ”The most beautiful 90 photographs of the blessed tree” out of 3,426 pictures, where these publications come within the Award’s framework of its social responsibility, by enhancing the participation of various segments of the society from poets, intellectuals and artists (photographers) in love with the date palm tree, through the beautiful words written by young poets from across the Arab countries, in addition to great pictures taken by the most skilled photographers from across the world.
Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, did confirm on this occasion, that the poems included in the book are the winning and distinguished poems in the “Date Palm International Poetry” competition, launched by the Award in 2017, which aims to employ Nabati poetry and formal Arabic poetry as an important mean of developing public awareness on the importance of the date palm tree in terms of heritage, agriculture, food and economy. Promoting the culture of date palm to revive one of the purposes of poetry (description of the date palm tree), providing the Arab library and the poetry arena with a distinctive quality of poems in love of date palm tree, by encouraging poets to create and write quality poems, while providing everyone with the opportunity to compete in a transparent manner by highlighting the experiences of the winning poets. Dr. Zaid then added that the photographs participating in the photography book are the winning and distinguished photos participating in the “Date Palm International Poetry” competition, which was launched by the Award in 2010, in cooperation with the International Federation of Photographic Arts and the Union of Arab Photographers, which aims to enhance the human relationship with the date palm tree, by employing the art of photography as a mean to develop public awareness on the importance of the date palm tree. Creating a space for the exchange of experiences between photographers from across the world, while highlighting the touristic, environmental and heritage elements of the date palm tree, through photography. As well as, encourage the human connection with the earth and the environment, and this competition came to confirm the role of the photographer’s lens in enriching the memory of the homeland, reviving its national heritage and supporting sustainable development programs. A picture is considered an artistic treasure and a cultural heritage that contributes to the development of human taste in a way that enhances the intimate relationship that binds man to the date palm tree throughout history.
