Khalifa International Award Launches the “Climate Changes, and its Impact on the Agricultural Sector” Book

Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid: Climatic agriculture aims to adapt to climate change and reduce its impact on the agricultural sector

 Under the directives of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Chairman of the Board of Trustees  of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, the Award’s General Secretariat issued the “Climate Changes, and its Impact on the Agricultural Sector” book in English language, within the Award’s participation to the official delegation of the United Arab Emirates, at the Climate Change Conference (COP28).The book launching ceremony took place at the UAE pavilion, COP28, under the supervision of Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Award’s Secretary General, and in the presence of H.E. Prof. Ibrahim El-Dukeiri, Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), H.E. Dr. Helal Humaid Saed Al Kaabi, Member of the Award’s Board of Trustees, H.E. Mr. Aly Abou Sabea, Director General of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), H.E. Dr. Latifa Yaqoubi, Director of the National Agency for the Development of Oasis and Argan Areas in the Kingdom of Morocco, and H.E. Mr. Mohammed Ghanem Al Mansouri, Executive Vice President of Al Foah Company, along with the participating Award’s team and a number of experts and guests.

Dr. Zaid, Award’s Secretary General, pointed out that climatic agriculture is an agricultural approach aimed at adapting to climate change and reducing the impact of agriculture on climate change, and this agriculture comes in response to the challenges facing the agricultural sector in general as a result of increasing climate changes, such as increasing temperatures, rainfall fluctuations, and increase in the number of natural disasters, floods, etc. Climatic agriculture aims to promote sustainable and climate-resilient food production, improve farmers’ sustainability and increase their resilience to growing climate challenges. Agriculture is an important part of responding to the climate change crisis and ensuring that people are fed in a world facing increasing climate challenges.

The “Climate Changes, and its Impact on the Agricultural Sector” Book, issued by the General Secretariat of Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, is part of the Award’s participation at the Climate Change Conference (COP28), hosted by the United Arab Emirates from the 30th of November to 12th of December, 2023, with the participation of a group of experts concerned with this sector.
