KSrelief Supervisor General Oversees the Progress of Saudi Aid Entry into the Gaza Strip
The Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, recently traveled to Egypt to oversee the progress of entry into the Gaza Strip of humanitarian aid being provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to assist the Palestinian people. Dr. Al Rabeeah was accompanied by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Osama Naqli, a specialized field team from KSrelief, and representatives from both the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent Societies.
Dr. Al Rabeeah oversaw the launch of one of the KSrelief aid convoys heading to the Rafah border crossing and visited aid storehouses in the area to oversee aid preparation and management; he also reviewed delivery coordination procedures with the relevant authorities responsible for delivering the aid into Gaza.
Accompanied by the delegation, KSrelief Supervisor General also visited the Rafah border crossing itself to observe the mechanisms, scale and progress of humanitarian operations at the crossing. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to expediting the entry of scaled-up quantities as a matter of urgency to meet the overwhelming needs of Gaza residents.
In a press statement during the visit, Dr. Al Rabeeah explained that in line with the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince, a Saudi National Campaign was launched by KSrelief via the “Sahem” platform to collect donations to provide assistance to Gaza.
“Today,” he stated, “we inspected the Saudi relief aid items, including the food, shelter materials, medical supplies and ambulances being transported to Egypt by airlift and sealift.” Dr. Al Rabeeah added that 15 airlift planes have already landed in Egypt from KSrelief, and that the first sealift shipment had also arrived, carrying 1,050 tons of aid. A second relief ship will embark from Saudi Arabia next Saturday, and a third on Tuesday.
The convoy Dr. Al Rabeeah launched at Rafah includes more than 326 trucks bound for the Gaza Strip, with more expected to arrive soon. Dr. Al Rabeeah thanked the government of Egypt for facilitating the arrival of air and sealifts from the Kingdom, adding that these efforts would enhance KSrelief’s commitment to provide ongoing support to the people of Palestine.
Dr. Al Rabeeah concluded his remarks by extending his thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom’s leadership and citizens for their generous support of the Palestinian people during the serious humanitarian challenges they are currently facing.
